It’s amazing how two people can sing the exact same lyrics, but the musical arrangement can change the emotion of the song. Here are the songs that lead me to think about this.
*I’m slightly biased, but I prefer José’s version compared to Kylie’s
If you listen to his version the arrangement is simple and gives the lyrics an opportunity to be at the forefront. It also helps that he has a very soothing voice to further stir your emotions. Have a listen!
In Kylie’s version the arrangement is deceiving and has a more upbeat feel, but in reality the lyrics are discussing heartbreak. Nonetheless, that is not the reason I prefer José’s version. This version is just not my cup of tea, it is as simple as that. Take a listen and bust out your best 80’s two-step.
Side note: This is my last post of 2011!!! I wish everyone a prosperous New Year and stay positive!!!
