Tuney Tuesday: 702 Get It Together

I was talking to someone the other day and I said, “get it together.”  As soon as I finished saying that, I immediately thought of the song “Get It Together” by 702.  I know that I am not the only one that does song association.

I am not going to lie, I really miss R&B groups (like really talented ones) being a trend.  If there are any groups that you are really enjoying at the moment, feel free to share! Enjoy!

Good Ol’ Days

I was humming some songs and then I thought about the commercials that I heard them in.  At a point in time (1997?) Gap had some really good commercials.  Two of my favorite commercials were the vest one with a remix of Madonna’s In My Love and Soulful mix of Bill Withers’ Lovely Day.    Gap, make more commercials like those, well I’m not going to lie, I also like the Cabana Cha Cha one.  You can thank me later after these get stuck in your head.  Enjoy!

Death of the “Remix” ?

I am a fan of hip hop music, but the mainstream stuff can be slightly discouraging at times.  Being a dancer, it is always an asset to not only stay informed about the “underground” but also what is playing on the radio as well.  Lately I have heard a few “remixes” (if you really want to call them such).  But unfortunately it is nothing interesting, they just insert a new verse from a new featured artist.  What happened to the days of actually reworking the song to make something almost new with a recognizable flare to it???  For example if you look up the song Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa and then compare it to his remix of the same name, there is not much new about except that Snoop Dogg is now featured.

But I cannot say this is the case for all artists out, but many of the “remixes” that are released on music channels fall under this issue.  So for those artists out there, stop keeping your good remixes for your mixtapes only.  Let the consuming mass here it as well.

For your listening and viewing pleasure. (Heartbreaker and the remix)
