Hey there people! I am the worst at promoting myself but last month, I got to go to KellyRay’s Boutique’s grand opening on behalf of 613style.com. If you are not familiar with their blog, they are one of Ottawa’s most influential fashion blogs. This was my first time attending something as a “guest blogger” and it was a nice experience. For those of you in Ottawa or visiting, I would say check it out, for a boutique the prices are reasonable. This means a lot considering I love thrift shopping and a good sale. It obviously was not thrift store cheap, but the items were unique enough that I had not seen them in other stores and would be willing to pay depending on the item. If I want to treat myself and I can justify the purchase, I will definitely go back. I bought myself a loose fitting cardigan for $60 (I know that is a bit much) but I had been looking for a cardigan like this for years, and I was not successful in my search until that day. That was just a quick life/fashion update for all of you lovely folks. More posts will be on their way! Here is the blog post, click here.
I do appreciate a nice leather bottom. But I am still trying to wrap my head around wearing leather in the summer. Every time I think of wearing leathers, I think of that episode of Friend’s when Ross could not get his leather pants back on and he had baby powder everywhere. I am aware that shorts and skirts are the way to go, but I imagine it will still be sticky. I love the look of it, but I do not see it as being practical. I guess it is just me and I should open myself to new fashion possibilities. Who knows what the future holds, but for now, I genuinely do not really understand it. Tell me about your experience with summer leather items.
I love these looks, but I will save it for a cool Spring or Fall day/night.
UPDATE: I bought leather leggings and wore them to a dance battle, but other than that I still cannot see myself just casually wearing them.
I remember my first experience with makeup setting spray was in high school. I saw my friend spraying something that looked like water on her face. I asked her what it was and she told me it was “setting spray.” I was curious so I went to MAC to see how much it was and it was over $20! There is no way I am spending $2o to spray something with water in it over my makeup(well maybe one day, but not now!) Until recently I have been curious about makeup again and I decided to check out ways I could make my own makeup setting spray. Thanks to good ol’ Pinterest, I found a recipe that only has two ingredients, water and glycerin. Luckily, I had those two things in my house. Once in a while when I am feeling fancy I will use it or sometimes I just spray it on my face because I like the way it feels. This mix may not be for everyone’s skin, but you can add other oils to it like peppermint oil, lavender or even put some rose water in that bad boy. Go ahead and treat yourself!
- 1 Travel sized spray bottle
- 3/4 Filtered water
- 1/4 Glycerin
- you can add other oils if you want
Enjoy and let me know if you have any other recipes for making your own makeup setting sprays. I would love to hear from you! Have a great weekend:)
I know this may seem like it will always be about beauty routines, but I swear it will not! So fun fact, Apple Cider Vinegar(ACV) has so many uses, but today I will focus on the benefits it has for your skin.
One of the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar is that it helps regulates the pH of your skin. At the moment I use ACV as a facial toner and so far I have no complaints. It is very strong so it is important that you dilute it or else your face will feel like it is burning. Dilute the mixture with two parts water and you are good to use that in the morning and night after washing your face. If you have any other diy beauty, cleaning or any type of tips, feel free to share!!! Enjoy and have a great weekend!
Happy Friday everyone! Here is my first post for my new segment FUN FACT FRIDAY! I have all these little tid bits of information that I thought I would share with you. It may be helpful, maybe not. This one is mainly for people who wear makeup and are tired of spending a lot of money on makeup remover. In the end, is your skin really benefiting from those products?
For any routine in my life, I like to keep it simple. I looked up the various oils I could use to remove makeup, but I needed one that could fair against waterproof mascara. I discovered that coconut oil does the trick and I find it leaves my eyes really moisturized (due to the fatty acids and all that good stuff). As I said before, I like to keep it simple, all you have to do is melt the coconut oil in your hands and apply it to your eyes and face. Then, take a warm damp cloth or a cotton pad and remove your makeup! Yes, it really is that simple and you do not need a lot so you get great mileage out of the coconut oil! I hope this fun fact will help you!
I have always loved DIY projects, but as of lately, I have really been trying more things. Sometimes when I am feeling creative, I feel like cutting materials (unfortunately I cannot sew….well). Luckily, this project does not call for sewing. I have developed a strong love for crop tops, but the ones that I want retail for about $30 and I just cannot justify paying that for such a small amount of fabric. Well I found out a sweet trick! Do you have panty hose or leggings you do not wear anymore?! This girl does (me), all you have to do is cut out the crotch of your leggings and you’re done! Quick and simple is how I like it!
Here is the finished product!
Here is the video that I got the idea from:
Lately I have been a really big fan of polka dots. One day as I was surfing the web looking at nail art, I came across various ways of doing polka dot nails. I loved the idea of focusing on the tip rather than the whole nail. Here are some pictures of the final product.
Side note: I did not have a “dotting” tool so I used a pin and stuck it into an eraser.
Here is where I got my inspiration from:
From the title you can presume that I have a confession to make. So the other day, I found one of my old scrunchies from my dance studio days. As much as I dislike scrunchies, I got a lot of hair right now and sometimes elastics are too tight. So I gave in and rocked a scrunchie…around my house. But then I wore it outside, GASP!…in a bun(calm down people). No one knew that I had a scrunchie in my hair, except for my friend. But do I dare rock a scrunchie for the world to see?! We’ll see what happens. I’m sorry….
So for the past few months I have been looking for lipstick with NO sparkles in purple (violet). I did not realize how difficult this would be. Every time I found the perfect shade, there were sparkles in it(no me gusta!). After many unsuccessful attempts, I finally threw in the towel. During my last visit to Syracuse, I managed to find the shade I was looking for in a lip liner. Please be assured that I was looking for the shade in lip liner as well…I was almost desperate enough to buy purple eye liner. Now I am quite happy with my new colour that I have now added to my collections.
