Instagram Video

Yes my friends, you have heard right! Instagram will now have a video feature.  CEO and Co-Founder, Kevin Systrom recently announced that you will be able to make 15 second videos, compared to Vine’s 6 seconds.  Clearly they had to put their Instagram touch and offer 13 custom filters.  You can also choose your desired cover frame to make the video more appealing to click on.  They have introduced a new technology by the name of “Cinema” to help stabilize your video footage.

As an Android user, I am extremely excited that they have offered it for Android 4.0 as well.  Unlike Vine, I do not have to wait months later for an app that still cannot use properly.  Don’t get me wrong I understand that bugs happen, but that is another post.  Either way, I am excited to try this new app.  What are your thoughts on Instagram video?

How DeVINE…..

As many of you know, the world of social media is continuously growing.  The newest kid on the block released by Twitter is called Vine. It is the Instagram of videos; it enables you to post cute little videos and share it with your friends and family.  As of lately, I have been trying to become an early adopter, but with this one there are too many bugs, so I will wait aaaand it is not available to Droids either (that’s really why I haven’t tried it).  Likeable wrote a well rounded piece on the new social media tool.  Click here and enjoy

I Like It, But….

Today I was listening to Bruno Mars’ Locked Out Of Heaven.  I thought his vocal delivery was a little reminiscent of Sting’s,I’m pretty sure it was intentional.  BUT my friends, that is not what I really want to discuss.  The whole time I was listening to this song, I could not help but think, “I like this song, but I feel like someone else should be singing it.”  Who do I think should have done this song instead?  Personally, I think Bedouin Soundclash would have done a really good job singing this song.  More specifically I think the lead singer of Bedouin Soundclash, Jay Malinowski’s vocals would have matched this song nicely.  I can’t explain exactly why, but I think his vocals would have given the song that much more.  Don’t get me wrong I think Bruno Mars is a very talented singer, but for this particular song I just feel like something is missing.  Have you ever heard a song that you liked but felt like someone else should be singing it?  Let me know! Well here are some videos for you to enjoy!

Sidenote:  I want the hat he is wearing around 1:44.  Thus far my journey has been unsuccessful, but I will prevail!

Good Ol’ Days

I was humming some songs and then I thought about the commercials that I heard them in.  At a point in time (1997?) Gap had some really good commercials.  Two of my favorite commercials were the vest one with a remix of Madonna’s In My Love and Soulful mix of Bill Withers’ Lovely Day.    Gap, make more commercials like those, well I’m not going to lie, I also like the Cabana Cha Cha one.  You can thank me later after these get stuck in your head.  Enjoy!

The Power Of Social Media

I am sure that many of you have seen something about Joseph Kony and the Invisible Children in the past few days.  I have always heard about child soldiers and the horror that they have to endure in Uganda and various other places.  But for the past day or so, on my Facebook Timeline, “KONY 2012” has been showing up in my feed quite frequently.  After reading these various posts I decided to watch the video.  It really is a powerful video and if you have time I would suggest watching it.  As I watched this video, it reminded me that there is so much power in the various social media tools we use.  This campaign is trending on Twitter, they are on Facebook, Tumblr and Youtube.  For many we use these various tools as entertainment but it is also an informational sharing tool.  It seems as though this campaign has picked up so much momentum in such a short amount of time.  The film only premiered on the 5th of March and at this moment has had over 4 million hits on Youtube.  This is an amazing thing and I look forward to seeing how else social media can raise awareness about other world issues.
